SWAT FLOOD: HELI SERVICE TO RESCUE 1500 TOURISTS TRAPPED IN KALAM

SWAT: According to ARY NEWS, up to 1500 visitors may be trapped in Kalam after severe flooding destroyed hotels and other buildings along the River Swat. Provincial authorities plan to use a helicopter service to rescue the tourists.

Up to 1500 tourists may be sleeping at various hotels in Kalam at the moment, and the hotel owners are reportedly giving them free meals and other amenities.

According to the reports, today will see the start of a helicopter service to rescue the stranded tourists, and supplies will also be provided to residents who are trapped because of blocked roads after the catastrophic flooding in River Swat.

The provincial government has declared an emergency to address the problem because District Swat was one of the most severely impacted areas during the recent floods.

According to a report from earlier in the day, at least 15 people were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province's Swat city by floods and landslides brought on by heavy monsoon rains.

According to a statement from Swat Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Abrar Wazir, the flash floods wrecked a road network spanning about 130 kilometres. The floodwaters fully or partially destroyed up to 15 connecting bridges.

Nearly 50 hotels and restaurants were also devastated by floodwater, along with more than 100 homes and other buildings. ADC Abrar Wazir continued, "More squads were organised to examine further damage."
