ATC Extends Imran Khan's Interim Bail Until September 20 in the Terrorism Case

ISLAMABAD: After Imran Khan appeared before the court today in a terrorist case relating to making threats against a female judge and Islamabad police officers, an anti-terrorism court on Monday extended him interim bail till September 20, according to ARY NEWS.

After a brief pause, the ATC judge Raja Jawad Abbas began the hearing by announcing that Imran Khan's attorney, Babar Awan, had brought his client before the court.

Imran Khan was given three reminders to appear before the investigation team looking into the incident, but the prosecutor has requested that his bail be cancelled due to his refusal to do so.

The police had already received Khan's statement, according to Babar Awan, and nowhere was it stated that his client should participate in the proceedings in a personal capacity. Where is it said that he must go to the police station? he inquired.

The interim bail plea was prolonged by the judge until September 20 after hearing both sides' arguments.

Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had his pre-arrest temporary bail extended by the ATC during the most recent hearing until September 12.

ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan considered the former premier's motion for provisional bail in a terrorism charge lodged against him for allegedly threatening a female judge during a PTI rally on August 20.

Imran Khan, the PTI leader, appeared in person at the hearing this afternoon in response to a summons from the court.

The court extended the provisional bail until September 12 and ordered the former prime minister to post Rs. 100,000 in security.

Four new sections—186, 504, 506, and 188—had been added to the First Information Report (FIR) against Imran Khan, the court was informed during the hearing.

Imran's attorney, Babar Awan, argued that the former premier should be released on bail for these accusations. The judge disagreed, saying that notifications will be sent in their place.

Imran Khan was charged with terrorism in the Margalla police station after it was claimed that during his address in Islamabad on August 20, he used obscene language and threatened Additional Session Judge Zeba Chaudhry.
