PM AND UN SECRETARY GENERAL LAND IN SUKKUR TO VISIT AREAS AFFECTED BY FLOODS

ISLAMABAD: According to ARY News on Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have arrived in Sukkur to tour flood-affected parts of Sindh provinces.

Details indicate that Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, welcomed both the prime minister and the UN Secretary General.

Both individuals would interact with flood victims and assess the harm done as well as the continuing relief and recovery activities in the impacted areas.

They would be accompanied on the occasion by a UN delegation and representatives of the federal government. The UN secretary general and the prime minister would also fly over the flood-affected regions of Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

A day earlier, António Guterres arrived in Pakistan to offer his help in the wake of the nation's terrible floods, which claimed more than 1,300 lives and forced over 33 million people from their homes.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres was met at the airport in Islamabad by Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar, according to the Foreign Office.

Speaking at a joint press conference, the dignitary said Pakistan was one of the countries most negatively impacted by climate change and needed enormous financial assistance to deal with floods.

I am aware of the devastation these floods have caused among Pakistanis, and I assure them that we will deploy all of our efforts to draw attention to it from the rest of the world.
