SOURCES: PAKISTAN WILL SEEK MORE GLOBAL ASSISTANCE IN THE HEALTH SECTOR

ISLAMABAD: ARY News reported on Wednesday, quoting sources: "Pakistan has decided to ask international institutions for additional aid in fixing weaknesses in the health sector."

Details indicate that Pakistan has chosen to contact UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to request help in the health sector.

According to sources, the nation will request supplies of the drugs and medical gear needed during pregnancy and delivery from international organisations.

According to additional reports, the nation would also look for vaccines and medications for a number of illnesses, such as cholera, typhoid, malaria, and diarrhoea.

According to additional sources, international organisations would be pushed to donate medical supplies, nutritional sachets, and pills for water purification. The country would also request delivery of antibiotics and multivitamins, they stated.

It is important to note that Pakistan was receiving supplies of medications and medical supplies from international organisations.

It was reported earlier in September that Pakistan would approach major international lenders for financial support to deal with the country's devastating floods, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and others.

A joint report of the NDMA, finance, and planning and development ministries documenting damages due to the floods will be delivered to the international lenders, according to persons with knowledge of the situation.
